Udyam Aadhaar (now called Udyam Registration)

Udyam Aadhaar (now called Udyam Registration) is a government registration process introduced by the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India. It provides a unique identity number to MSMEs and helps them avail various benefits under government schemes.

🔹 What is Udyam Registration?

It is an online registration process for MSMEs (Micro, Small, Medium Enterprises) in India.
After registration, a business gets a Udyam Certificate with a unique Udyam Registration Number (URN).
It replaced the earlier Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum (UAM) from July 2020.

🔹 Who Can Apply?

Any business entity engaged in manufacturing, production, processing, preservation of goods, or providing services can apply, including:
- Proprietorship
- Partnership Firm
- Company
- Limited Liability Partnership (LLP)
- Hindu Undivided Family (HUF)
- Society / Trust / Co-operative Society

🔹 MSME Classification (based on Investment & Turnover)

- Government Subsidies – On patent registration, ISO certification, industrial promotion.
- Priority in Government Tenders – Special preference given to MSMEs.
- Subsidy on Electricity Bills & Trademark/Patent Fees.
- Protection against Delayed Payments – Buyers must pay within 45 days.
- Easier Access to Schemes – PMEGP, CGTMSE, Stand-up India, Make in India, etc.
- Concessions in Income Tax & GST compliance in some cases.

🔹 Documents Required

- Aadhaar Number of proprietor/partner/director.
- PAN Card of the business.
- GSTIN (if applicable).
- Business details like name, type, activity, bank details.

🔹 Registration Process

1. Visit official portal: https://udyamregistration.gov.in
2. Select New Registration.
3. Enter Aadhaar number (mandatory).
4. Validate with OTP.
5. Fill business details – PAN, bank details, activity type, turnover, investment.
6. Submit & get Udyam Registration Certificate online (soft copy).

🔹 Validity

- Udyam Registration is lifetime valid – no renewal required.
- Earlier Udyog Aadhaar holders had to re-register on Udyam Portal before 30th June 2022.
