Renewal and Amendments for udyam

🔁 Renewal and Amendments for Udyam Registration (Udyog Aadhaar replacement)
As of July 1, 2020, the Indian government replaced the Udyog Aadhaar system with Udyam Registration for all Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). It is governed by the Ministry of MSME.

✅ 1. Renewal of Udyam Registration
🔹 Is Renewal Required?
No.
Udyam Registration is permanent and does not require renewal. Once you’ve registered, your Udyam certificate is valid for a lifetime, as long as your enterprise meets the criteria for MSMEs.

However, businesses must:

Update their details annually, especially related to investment and turnover.

Ensure compliance with GST and Income Tax returns to maintain classification.

✏️ 2. Amendments to Udyam Registration
🔹 When Are Amendments Needed?
You must update or amend your Udyam registration if there are changes in:

Business name or address

Business activity (e.g., from manufacturing to services)

Ownership type (sole proprietorship to partnership, etc.)

PAN or Aadhaar details (rare, mostly during corrections)

Number of employees

Investment in plant/machinery

Turnover

📑 Documents Required
Udyam Registration Number (URN)

PAN and Aadhaar of proprietor/partners/directors

Updated business details

GSTIN (if applicable)

Updated ITR and GST returns (auto-fetched by portal)

🖥️ How to Make Amendments
Visit: https://udyamregistration.gov.in

Go to “Update Udyam Registration”

Enter your Udyam Registration Number (URN) and OTP (received on mobile/email)

Edit details as needed and submit

Changes will be auto-saved and reflected on your certificate after verification

⚠️ Important Notes
Requirement Remarks
Annual Update Not mandatory to re-register, but system pulls latest ITR and GST returns every year
Auto-classification Classification (Micro/Small/Medium) is based on updated financial data
Incorrect info Providing false or outdated information can lead to cancellation of registration or loss of MSME benefits

🧾 Quick Tips
Keep ITR and GST filings up-to-date: The system uses these to assess eligibility.

Login annually to verify auto-updated data or make corrections.

If your turnover or investment increases, your classification (Micro → Small, etc.) will automatically change.

Always download updated certificate if any changes are made.
