How to register for PF

To register for Provident Fund (PF) in India, the process differs for employers and employees. Here's how you can register, step by step:

🏢 For Employers (to register their company with EPFO)
Who needs to register?

Any organization with 20 or more employees (mandatory).

Optional for organizations with fewer than 20 employees.

✅ Steps to Register:
Visit EPFO’s Employer Registration Portal:

Sign Up / Login:

If you're new, click on ‘Sign Up’ and provide your basic details (name, email, mobile).

Login with your credentials.

Start New Registration:

Choose “Registration for EPFO & ESIC”.

Select “Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO)”.

Fill Establishment Details:

PAN of the business

Address and type of business

Number of employees, nature of work, etc.

Upload Documents (scanned copies):

PAN Card of the business

Address proof (electricity bill, rent agreement, etc.)

Details of company’s directors/owners

Bank account details

Digital Signature (DSC):

A Class 2 or Class 3 DSC of an authorized person is required to complete the registration.

Submit the Form:

After verification and validation, your PF Establishment Code will be generated.

👨‍💼 For Employees (to activate their UAN)
Note: Your employer usually generates your UAN (Universal Account Number) when you’re added to the PF system.

✅ Steps to Activate Your UAN:
Visit the UAN Member Portal:
👉 https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/

Click on ‘Activate UAN’.

Enter the following:

UAN (from your employer)

Member ID or Aadhaar or PAN

Name, date of birth, mobile number, email

You will receive an OTP on your mobile.

Enter the OTP and click ‘Validate OTP and Activate UAN’.

Once activated, you’ll receive your UAN and password to login and access your PF account.
