To register PF (Provident Fund) and ESI (Employee State Insurance) for a new company in India, follow this step-by-step guide:

Scheme Applicability
ESI Mandatory if company employs ≥10 employees (in some states ≥20) with gross wages ≤ ₹21,000/month
EPF Mandatory if company employs ≥20 employees, regardless of salary; optional below 20 (voluntary registration)

Certificate of Incorporation / Partnership Deed / LLP Agreement
Address proof (electricity bill, rent agreement)
GST Registration (if applicable)

PAN and Aadhaar of all directors/partners/proprietors
Email and mobile number
Employee Information
List of employees with salary details
Aadhaar, PAN, and passport-size photos of employees
Date of joining, designation, department
🛡️ ESI Registration Process (via ESIC portal)
Step-by-Step:
Go to: https://www.esic.gov.in
Click "Employer Login" → Sign Up
Register with employer’s name, email, mobile
Log in with credentials sent to your email
Click “New Employer Registration” → Select type (Factory/Establishment)
Fill Form-1 with company & employee details
Submit form and make first contribution online
Download ESIC Registration Certificate (C-11) with 17-digit code
💰 PF Registration Process (via EPFO)
Step-by-Step:
Go to: https://unifiedportal-emp.epfindia.gov.in/epfo/
Click on “Establishment Registration” → redirects to Shram Suvidha Portal
Sign up using email, PAN, and create login
Fill Digital Signature (DSC) or eSign-enabled Form 5A
Submit with required documents
Receive PF Code Number (Establishment ID)
Register employees → UAN (Universal Account Numbers) auto-generated
✅ After Registration
Task ESIC EPF
Monthly Payment Due 15th of next month 15th of next month
Employer Contribution 3.25% 12%
Employee Contribution 0.75% 12%
Return Filing Form 6, accident reports, wage register ECR (Electronic Challan-cum-Return)
📎 Optional: MSME/Udyam Registration
For startups and small businesses, it's advisable to also register under Udyam for MSME benefits. It’s not mandatory for PF/ESI but helps in compliance and subsidies.
